With its
beautiful, sweet-smelling flowers, an oleander is a true overindulgence for the
senses. In the summer, place the plant outside to be able to enjoy it on long,
sultry summer evenings.

In the
wild, this plant grows in the Mediterranean Basin. It is for good reason that
Sunshiners® plants are grown under the Spanish sun. In such ideal growth
conditions, a small cutting can easily grow into a beautiful, strong plant of
excellent quality.

Sunny Living
Place Sunshiners® plants in a bright spot in your home, such as the windowsill of your bathroom or bedroom. These summer plants feel particularly at home in the conservatory.
Take them outside!
Once summer starts, take your plants outside. Place them in a sheltered spot on your patio or balcony. You can also plant an oleander in the flower bed. You will feel as if you are in the Mediterranean!

Care

  • Place the oleander in a bright, warm place, such as the conservatory or on the windowsill;
  • From May onwards, place the plant in a sunny and reasonably sheltered spot on the patio or balcony;
  • Keep the root ball moist; ensure good drainage (outside) so that the roots are not always in water;
  • Give the plant some plant food every two weeks;
  • No pruning is needed;
  • If the plant starts to get too big, you can prune the longer branches in February. The plant will then bloom less profusely the following season;
  • During the winter, place the oleander in a cool place (about 5 °C). Give the plant only a little water, without letting the root ball dry out. You will not need to fertilize it again during the winter.

Habitat

In early spring an Oleander will do fine in a conservatory or in front of a south-facing window indoors, where you will be able to enjoy its flowers at an early stage already. As soon as the night temperature no longer drops below 12 degrees Centigrade you can also place your plant in a sheltered sunny spot in your garden or on your patio or balcony.
